You know what?
Who can produce C4 gas?
3M™ Novec™ 4710 Insulating Gas is a sustainable alternative to sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) for electrical equipment
insulation and arc quenching applications. It offers excellent dielectric properties, a wide range of operating
temperatures and significant reductions in environmental impacts compared to SF6. Novec 4710 gas is non-
flammable and has a wide safety margin for workers when used as designed for intended applications. This
SF6 alternative also has important environmental properties such as low global warming potential (GWP) when
mixed with inert gases and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). Novec 4710 gas in pure form has a relative
dielectric strength two times greater than SF6 at a given pressure.
On December 20, 2022, 3M announced that it will cease production of 58 Per/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) products, including perfluoroisobutyronitrile (C4F7N, 3M Novec 4710) and perfluoropentanone (C5F10, 3M Novec 5110), by the end of 2025 to reduce or eliminate the impact of PFAS on climate, environment, and ecological health.
In fact, in the ultra-high voltage industry, research and testing on using C4 or C5 instead of SF6 have not been interrupted. In China, many companies have passed type tests for their products, but have yet to mass produce them;
Similarly, the production and supply of C4 and C5 gases are also limited to sample trials, and gas prices remain high. Currently, C4 prices are at 3000 RMB/kg, and it is reported that the largest production scale enterprise is yuji,It is said that there is a production line with an annual output of 100 tons.
The current C4 manufacturing companies in China include Yuji ,HEXAFLUO, Haohua, and Ankura.
KSTONE is a leading enterprise in China that develops C4 and C5 related instruments and equipment;and has precise cooperation with 3M and chinese C4 or C5 manufacturers ;
