Application Field

The "C4" specified in this manual refers to C4 mixed gas, typically with a C4 proportion below 10%. The vacuum pump configured in this device is only for evacuating the pipeline of the equipment; a larger vacuum unit can be configured if needed.


This device is suitable for recovery, purification, and refilling of C4 mixed gas in power supply bureaus, power plants, transmission substations, high-voltage switch manufacturing plants, electrical research institutes, and power engineering companies. It is especially applicable for on-site installation and maintenance of 110KV~550KV GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear).

Overall Functions

The device supports vacuum pumping, vacuum measurement, C4 recovery, C4 charging, and C4 storage.

Recovery System

  • Core component: Oil-free high-pressure compressor, with air-cooled structural design for the entire system.
  • Protection devices: Pressure reducers and magnet-assisted solenoid valves are configured at the inlet and outlet of the recovery system to prevent damage from inlet/outlet pressure exceeding the compressor's allowable limit.

Vacuum Pumping System

  • Pump type: Direct-connected vane vacuum pump, featuring small size, no oil fume/dripping/leakage, and ultimate vacuum of 10 Pa.
  • Anti-oil backflow device: Prevents pump oil from flowing back into switchgear during sudden power outages or shutdowns.
  • Vacuum gauge: High-precision digital vacuum gauge for accurate vacuum measurement, easy to use.
  • Applications: Evacuation of the device itself, vacuum activation of filters, and evacuation of electrical equipment (optional larger vacuum unit).

Purification System

  • Filters: Imported high-precision dust filter, drying filter, and decomposition product filter, controlling gas dust particle size below 1 μm and moisture content below 40 ppm.
  • Regeneration technology: Vacuum heating activation regeneration, allowing the drying system to regenerate autonomously without disassembly or filter element replacement.

Charging System

Supports C4 gas refilling via pressure balancing or compression pressurization, with users able to choose based on actual conditions.

Electrical Control System

  • Components: Branded electrical components with protection functions for phase sequence switching, leakage, phase loss, overheating, and thermal relays.
  • Design: Multi-stage linkage control to prevent equipment damage from misoperation; custom phase sequence protection with 500V withstand voltage for high reliability.

Safety System

  • Structure: The whole machine is equipped with a closed metal protective shell, with maintenance doors and windows reserved. 3m-novec-4710-insulating-gas

Introduction

3M Novec 4710 Insulating Gas is a sustainable alternative to sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) for electrical equipment

insulation and arc quenching applications. It offers excellent dielectric properties, a wide range of operating

temperatures and significant reductions in environmental impacts compared to SF6. Novec 4710 gas is non-

flammable and has a wide safety margin for workers when used as designed for intended applications. This

SF6 alternative also has important environmental properties such as low global warming potential (GWP) when

mixed with inert gases and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). Novec 4710 gas in pure form has a relative

dielectric strength two times greater than SF6 at a given pressure.


On December 20, 2022, 3M announced that it will cease production of 58 Per/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) products, including perfluoroisobutyronitrile (C4F7N, 3M Novec 4710) and perfluoropentanone (C5F10, 3M Novec 5110), by the end of 2025 to reduce or eliminate the impact of PFAS on climate, environment, and ecological health.
